CCSAR participates in educating the public on being safe in the wilderness. On 18 February several members participated in the “Prepare For It” event hosted by the Custer County Office of Emergency Management. The purpose of the open house was to remind Custer residents of the importance of being prepared for an emergency. Custer County is a rural community with limited, often volunteer, emergency resources and as a result in the event of a disaster, help could be hours and even days away.
CCSAR had a new informational poster made and gave away pamphlets with information related to safety while hiking the local trails or wilderness.
